DISTANCE IS IN THE MIND...

AN ODE TO A QUEEN
by "OBSIDIAN!!!" c. 1999 [Previously unpublished work]

I wanted you to be
besides me forever
my queen
on a throne besides the sea
of green
glass sprinkling
the light of a fireplace
i wanted to taste
your rose petal lips
caress your vase-like hips

Away! we sail across
obsidian seas
to a land once forgotten
to a secret vow spoken
only between you and me

And now what's left?!
but broken glass by a
fireplace forsaken
and now what's left?!
but shattered hopes
of a love mistaken

I wanted you to be
besides me forever
my queen
upon hyacinth coloured
dragon's pony rides
a flame still burns inside
and at night i can
still see your eyes

Burning like the fireplace
the stain of wine on
your lips still taste
like love to me…

Who is this woman that you still love? I once thought I would have my "king" - turns out I was mistaken - I have a better perspective who who I should give myself to - someone who deserves it..
Do you know what it is like to love someone who didnt love you back?
Did you not appreciate someone who loved you with their all?

Well, that poem was written 2 my 2nd ex-wife...eye had large expectations for us, then. Eye'm sure many of us, have had he experience of loving someone who didn't love us back...i think it's part of the learning/growing experience...made me a mystic-it did...happy new year!
